Missed it in 22, but it's such an awesome hypnotic psychedelic perfection. Looks like I'm completely stoned by this record.
Favorite track: Acid Night Vision.

Definitely a favourite for '22. Love hard heavy doomy power trios and Burning Sister are up there with the very best. I'm hooked 🎣🤟🏽♠️

Dropped the laptop and picked up an axe. After he switched from writing album reviews to writing riffs, we told the frontman if he ever had a proper album drop, we'd be the first to buy it. Guess we meant AMONG the first. We'd prolly have a copy even if we weren't aquatinted - and we'd still dig the tunes just as much. Dude knows his heavy music and surrounded himself with a couple like-minded individuals for their buzz worthy mile-high debut lp..
Favorite track: Cloven Tongues.
"So “mile high?” Any way you want to look at it, literally or figuratively, altitude or attitude, yes. “Downer rock?” Yeah, I hear that too. The vocals have a kind of depressive edge at times and there are moments that toe the line between Man’s Ruin-style, post-Acid King idolatry-o’-riff and darker, definitely-doomed fare. In any case, it’s not party rock — unless you happen to be having precisely my kind of party — and as a debut it is both declarative and exploratory, setting out the band’s intentions for future growth in melody, in consuming tones, in synth integration and expansiveness of craft and structure, while kicking a good bit of ass in the here and now." --The Obelisk
"...Burning Sister have delivered a terrific blend of FUZZED based Psych/Stoner Rock with a gloomy Acid Rock sound that gives them quite a seedy realistic feel within the WEEDIAN underground scene." --Outlaws of the Sun
"Burning Sister is not just a straightforward stoner or doomy release; each track is different and unique (capturing an atmosphere, sound etc. of their own!), neither dull nor reparative, highly entertaining & transfixing with a complex and intoxicating acid trip while adding a variety of musical elements/influences, such as psychedelia, acid, doom, stoner, southern metal, and ‘70s rock and metal into their musical spectrum -which provides a sound and atmosphere that’s top-notch -but creating a dense atmosphere -an overload of fuzz, -but massive in sound." --Metal 1 on 1

Just some very quality stoner rock/metal. Excellent riffs, guitar tone, vocals, production, and great hooks. My biggest complaint about a lot of this kind of music is a lot of bands forget to include hooks. Acid Magus didn't. mobesneedmusic

Fantastic album from front to back! Incredibly catchy, fuzzy riffs, great songwriting and powerful lyricism.
A classic of modern heavy psych / stoner music! Brett

The funk and prog bits sprinkled on this muthalovin' heavy groovy cake make it oh so tasty, and I like a good, unpretentious concept album. I'll have another slice right now, hold the nanobots, thank you ! Coraxio

Combining crooned murder ballads with raw, angsty hard rock hooks, Melbourne's The Ugly Kings are a wrecking crew well worth watching. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 15, 2021

Nasty occult stoner doom. Those fuzzy riffs are awesome and the psychedelic vocals are insane. Put your headphones on, grab a bottle of beer and listen to this while you sacrifice your enemies. Sælzer Bub
